New Fence (and other joys of home ownership)!

Well, it has been a busy few days around here! Kevin's "nesting" is a bit different than mine and he has decided we need to finish a few much needed house projects before the baby gets here. One was we got a new AC system (the upstairs unit was broken, and the downstairs unit was 20 years old, so we knew replacing it was inevitable). The second project was to get a new fence - which again was VERY much needed. Our fence was falling over and 20 years old, too. So the crew came to start on the fence on Thursday and was also here on Friday and today. Well, yesterday I looked out my window to monitor the progress and I saw three CenterPoint Energy trucks here. YIKES! So I ran out back and found that the fence guys had "nicked" our gas line. Well, the funny thing was that the day before our neighbor had come over and asked me why they weren't using an electric auger to do the holes for the post. When Kevin called the fence manager about this he laughed and said, "Your fence line is on gas line. We could blow your house up if we use an electric auger." Well, that quieted the neighbor! :) But, seriously, good thing they just hit it with a shovel.

Then, later that day we got another call from the fence company that they had broken two of our neighbors' sprinkler systems! It was almost becoming comical at this point! Thankfully the fence company was extremely responsive and is sending a technician out to fix everything on Monday.
So, then the final thing happened. We were running around the house trying to get things done because Kevin hasn't had a full day off since Easter, when Kevin looked up on the ceiling and said, "What is that ring on the ceiling?" I just kind of brushed it off as nothing, but Kevin went straight up to the attic and realized the ring was directly under where the new AC coils are. Long story short is that we thought it was some water leaking, but a technician just came out this evening and told us it is actually OIL leaking and they are going to have to do a new re-install of one of the units PLUS we are going to have to get the dry wall and boards replaced. Sounds fun! So, I guess I will be plenty busy dealing with all that this week. Thankfully we aren't liable for any of it, but it sure does keep things interesting. The joys of home ownership!

Here are some pics of the fence. We will be doing some much needed landscaping this week, so stay tuned for pictures of that!!

Here is some of the frame going up!
This is our backyard looking like a TOTAL mess!

Here is where they hit the gas line! Here is the new gate! And the finished product - which we think looks GREAT, but the yard needs some MAJOR work!
