This may be WAY more info than any of you wanted, but there are three stages of previa; complete, partial, and marginal. Complete is the most severe (and associated with the most risks). The fact we are now at a partial is GREAT news! The picture below shows the difference between the three types of previas:
I will most likely still need a c-section because at this point it is unlikely the placenta will move enough for a regular delivery. (To try for a regular delivery the placenta must be at least 3 centimeters from the opening of the cervix.) But the GREAT news is that bleeding is less likely the less the placenta is laying on the cervix!
Here's the stats on sweet Baby V:
- Measuring a week big (so about 31 weeks)
- Weighs 3 pounds 7 ounces
- Is in the 58 percentile for size
- Positioned head-down (Unfortunately his sweet face was being blocked by the placenta and umbilical cord, so the pictures from this scan really are not very good. But, hey, if that is the worst of it, I am THRILLED!)
Everything else on the scan looked great! My cervix is actually LONGER than it was 3 weeks ago (which we didn't know was possible!) Usually as the pregnancy progresses, the cervix thins out.
We are so, so, so thankful! When the doctor said, "partial previa" I almost started crying. I didn't believe what he said! Please continue to pray for the health of Baby V and for no early scares. God is so faithful and Kevin and I feel SO blessed! Our next scan is in three more weeks - we just pray the placenta keeps on MOVING UP!! :)
