A new addition?

So Kevin and I are in the process of adopting a new addition to our family - a rescue Springer Spaniel. This is a HUGE step for us because we know how much responsibility a dog is; but we also know how much joy and love a four-legged friend and bring into a home. We submitted our application last Saturday to the English Springer Spaniel rescue league (http://www.springerrescue.org/).

Our first interview was on Tuesday night. I guess we "passed" because we had our home visit today. It was so much fun! Elia, a Springer

League volunteer, brought over Wiley and Malaya to play. Malaya is her dog and Wiley is up for adoption. These are some pics of the handsome boy. He is about 8-14 months old and still has quite a bit of puppy in him, but is a real sweety. Kevin fell in love right away. Wiley doesn't really know his name, so we could change it if we want to. Kevin wants to call him "Bo" after the Cornhuskers' new coach, Bo Pelini. We will see about that (I kind of like Wiley personally!). Wiley has been under the rescue league's care for only a couple weeks. No one has ever heard him bark, so they are wondering if he may have had his vocal chords cut - isn't that HORRIBLE?! He was on his way for the vet for a final shot. He had picked up kennel cough at the shelter. He is very loving and has a great demeanor. He will need some training, but seems to be house broken and already sleeps in a crate. Let us know what you think of him. Kevin and I are going to think about it some more over the weekend, but we know ourselves well enough to know that if we wait until the "perfect" time, it will never come.
