I feel so incredibly thankful that Colt and Cade have had such a smooth transition into this school year. To say Colt loves Pre-K is an understatement! He has AMAZING teachers...seriously, we hit the jackpot this year and he is eating it up!! They have an amazing dramatic play area, which is right up Colt's alley...they had an apple shop for apple week where all the kids could go shopping for apples, use a cash register, and it even had canopies like a real-life farmer's market. Then, this week is fire safety week and the teacher constructed a huge fire truck for all the kids to play in along with dress up apparel. They also incorporate literature that goes with each unit and have taught the kids so much about the parts of a book, author, etc. that Colt comes home and asks me about it when we are reading at home. They started a hand writing program where he gets to begin practicing writing letters in both upper and lower case and they have a letter of the week. They have an estimation jar daily where the kids get to make a guess as to how many are in a see through jar, and then find out the exact amount. It just seems to be a perfect balance between play and instruction and to see Colt blossoming is just an AMAZING blessing to me! May he always have this type of love for school!
As always, he has a real love for the kids in his class and is just so incredibly social....funny how I saw this from the time he was so very, very young. One of his all-time favorite school buddies is Ollie and here they are at a sweet playdate at Ollie's house. These unchaperoned playdates are one of Colt's favorite things and make him feel so big and independent. His other loves these days include superheroes, Rescuebots, Star Wars, art projects (help me!!!), coloring, Paw Patrol, playing on his Leap Pad, swiping my phone to play games (which I still resist...but will let him do in small portions), eating treats (this kids can EAT...even his teachers comment on it to me! I try to keep most of it healthy, but it is a challenge with all the outside activities and social events we attend.), bossing his little brother around (but really they are the best of buds), loving on the babies, watching his shows, sucking on his binky (UGH!), biting his finger nails (his newest unfavorable habit!), and being with his mama. I try to soak up all the hugs and kisses this boy will give me, as I know my days of him being so openly loving towards me are numbered. He holds an incredibly special place in my heart and truly does center me in the midst of all the chaos that I sometimes feel like we are in. Colty-V....love you so very, very much and seeing you become a little boy is one of the greatest joys for me!!
